Strange Alert

I received a strange alert on my BEL STi this morning. It happened on a stretch of highway I travel daily and received an alert indicating "v (or u) -----". It lasted maybe at the most 1 second. I am certain it was a "v" but possibly a "u" but only took a quick glance since I was fighting strong winds and heavy rain at the time. This I have never seen before since I got my STi about 3 weeks ago.

I don't remember any other vehicles close so I don't think I would have mistaken it for a LASER alert.

Any thoughts? :?

When you adjust the volume the display shows a small letter "v" followed by the alert bars. If you just hold the mute button down for a second too long the unit will go into the volume adj mode. I did this once when I shifted into 3rd and my fingers were just pressing against the smart cord mute button as I held onto the shifter.

Great thanks for the info. I must have held the mute button, on the remote display, to long. Again thanks for the info.

I repeated the indication this morning on my way to lunch. The "MUTE" button on the smart hard wire cord will do the same as the button on the front of the STi, hold it long enoough and you can adjust the volumn, both up and down. You learn something new everyday. I don't remember seeing this about the remote button in the manual so it's time to get the manual out again and read it again.
