Default Brand new RX65 locks up in Programming mode

Subject pretty much covers it. While I'm programming things, the options you can choose blink on the right side of the screen. Well, after awile it quits blinking and there is nothing there. For example, the Pilot option to choose HWY, H or V options will stop blinking and it won't respond to any button even PWR. I have to unplug the unit and plug it back in and even after that, it still locks up after a short time. I have to be quick about programming or else it will freeze up and I have to start all over because it doesn't save my options I set prior to it freezing...

This is common it does not mean anything is wrong. Sure it is a pain but just unplug your detector. Don't stress about it.

This isn't common the unit should not 'lockup'. If you enter program mode change anything you should be able to get the unit to immediately exit programming mode by pressing the Power button. If your unit doesn't repsond to that then send it back. One more thing, check to make sure that none of the buttons are getting stuck. A stuck button can cause the problem you describe.

to my knowledge the buttons are not getting stuck, I can hear a distinct click when I depress them and when I let go.

Brand new? Depending on where you bought it, I'd say take it/send it back for an exchange.... :?

I just got mine too, and it seems that it did the same thing to me at least once, forcing me to unplug and plug back in.

I'll play around with it some more and see if I can replicate the problem again. If so, exchange city.

Don't mean to drudge up an old thread just giving an update...

I got the RX65 from Radar Roy's site. It's been a couple months, hasn't locked up or anything like that. And it detects pretty much everything out there so I think it was just a hiccup. anyone know how long the warranty lasts when you buy through his site in case I need to send it in?

My RX65 locked up once when entering programming mode, but it was while it was alerting to radar at the time I entered programming mode. Besides the stuck button thing, it's good to make sure there aren't any radar sources around when going into programming mode.

I always liked that about the Bels. They still continue alerting even when you are in programming mode. But, I guess I should stop doing that.

You should have a year from the date of purchase, but I could be mistaken.

BTW, I was going to suggest doing a software reset to see if it solved the problem, but it seems you have it down
