Got few questions about the STi

Hi, I'm new here and I got some questions about the STi. I currently own a STi, and I'm looking and searching the forum for the answers to my question. Maybe you guys can help. Thanks.

In situation 1, I see the cop using a radar guy, but my STi didn't make any sound, is that normal?

Situation 2. I was about 200 ft behind the SUV that's in front of me. He got pull over, but my STi didn't make any sound, is that normal?

Is there a way to test if your detector are working properly? Or when the unit do a self test at the start up, it means everything is in working order? Thanks a bunch

He could have been using laser not radar or he could be using Instant On which transmits only when triggered. My guess it was laser I see this position all the time around here

I've seen leos parked like that in your 2nd picture using the LTI (laser) out their window tagging cars.

Situation number one is also probable, especially if he was point the way you have it drawn and there was no oncoming traffic.

And the second one does seem like a typical laser trap.

thanks for the replys. But isn't the LEO uses Lidar on highway only? And how do I test to see if my RD working properly?

Nope, Lidar is frequnetly used in the city. They shoot through their open side windows especially in the winter.

You'll know if its working through experience. Are you picking alerts around retail stores? You'll know if your X and K band is working very easily. Ka you'll have to wait for a legit police singal

On a nice day up here you will see 1 leo with his tripod setup shooting his laser in the city all the time. Its always the rabbits that get screwed, since he gets his reading, walks out in the lane a bit and just waves ya in for a ticket.

so far, I'm getting tons of X bands, some K, but hardly Ka. So I guess is working properly. BTW, is the latest firmware is A4 M9?

Lilmikey, which part of Ontario you see the LEO shooting his/her Lidar?

400 series highways when the weather gets nice they are always out. The most lidar I see is along the QEW/403 areas from Toronto to Niagara. Very common in Toronto to see them using it in 50 zones with tripods setup.

The LINK in Hamilton is deadly since its 90km/h but everyone still thinks its a 100km/h PSL. They are always parked under bridges with their car parked in the middle of the bridge support shooting oncoming traffic through driver side window. If your going over 110 they will light your ass up.

My GPS has all the common speed trap locations in it so that thing helps alot as I drive the highways 90% of the time during my work shift.

LPP saved me today, doing 100 in a 60 zone going north on don mills, at york mills. The STi alerted me also, it was crazy but i forgot to turn it off. I was juat so excited to finally be tagged :P
