Howdy All
Get my new STI this week and was hoping for a heads up on the best set-up for Western Australian conditions (I have seen a few posters from Perth).
Cheers

I recommend: On
Well you certainly do your username justice!
And I thought it just wasnt falsing...![]()
Hey fellow west aussie!
Multanova's are the biggest threat in Perth, and the you get better range on them by mounting your detector up high on the windscreen. For laser, the lower the better, but to get any warning on Laser before an officer gets your speed, you have to rely on reflections from the vehicle in front of you as it is targetted... highly unlikely to get any pre warning what so ever, so i'm willing to sacrifice laser sensitivity for extra multanova range.
X - not used in WA
Ka - Multanovas
K - Police Dash mounted radar (along with every automatic door at every petrol station, shopping centre and McDonald's you may or may not drive past!)
Laser - police handheld
Some people turn K band off because there are so many falses but it's worth it if it saves you that one time.
Settings: X OFF, K ON, Ka ON, Laser ON and HIGHWAY Mode
Positioning: High
Good Luck!
Cheers for info!
Have you found mounting it high and vertical helps with the specific KA Multanovas used in Perth?
As you say, from WA like Special Chicken  I'm from Sydney how ever, but as for a set up, just plug it in and enjoy 8)Originally Posted by GGG

Vertical mounting made a huge difference with my RX65. Check out my video. Horizontal range was anywhere between 30 and 120m over several runs, vertical was about 200m!

Yet to test my X50 vertically against a multanova but i will let you know of the results when i do. In any case, from other tests and experience with the RX65, i'd definitely say high and vertical!
And by the way, when you hear that Ka chirp, hit the brakes hard, as it's most probably the real thing. I've never gotten a Ka false.
Deja vu - same place I ordered the vertical mount from had your clip on their website link!
Thanks again. BTW nice rex (I had a '94 a very long, but very fun, time ago).
I first heard about the vertical mount on that website too, only a few months ago haha. After i tried it i gave them the link to the video and they put it up.
I've got my X50 running vertically now but haven't seen a multanova. I'll get a video happening soon of X50 Vertical vs Horizontal. Delonix has already done it and 42% increase sounds good to me 8)

Defiantly mount it HIGH!!!!! Multanovas are sneaky buggers and the higher the mount the better range I have found!! Same goes for K and Ka mobile radar, ive also never missed a laser hit either with it mounted high.
X off
K,Ka, Laser on are my recommendations!
