Anybody running the unit like this and of course comes the big question: Performance difference?
Thanks
No performance difference.
Having the laser eye on the unit now hanging on the bottom side will give it a clear front to back view when hung inverted over the mirror (at least on my car)
Do you still recommend lower mounting as best detection for laser in this case? Any experience with laser detection with STi inverted over mirror?
Thanks
I recommend getting a good laser jammer and turning laser off on the radar detector. That's what I do.
I turn laser off on the detector for 2 reasons:
1. I don't like 2 devices alerting when I get hit with laser. (If the detector picks up the laser hit.)
2. This is rare, but it happened to me once. While I was getting hit with laser, my radar detector picked up a weak Ka signal which was instant on Ka being used further down the road. If I had laser turned on my detector, it would override the Ka alert and it would only alert to Laser which would have caused me to miss the Ka. On Belscort detectors K overrides X, Ka overides K & X, Laser overides everything. If you have a watchful eye over your detector while it is in threat mode you can still see the alert for a RADAR band that was override but not laser, laser takes up the entire display with "LASER". This is why I keep laser turned off on my STi.
That is the best option IMO if you can get a good laser jammer. The inverted should perform the same IMO.
