Bel RX65 BRAND NEW - / Mercedes CL55 AMG -- NOT A DAMN PEEP!

IT'S THE D A M N WINSHIELD

So, I'm off driving to the store and I reach over and take the Bel off of the windshield and it starts chearping like a live bird .. LAZER alters left and right as I pass the bank and drug store by my house.

Then I get to the store (Albertsons) park facing the automatic doors about 30 feet away.

Test 1 - windows up, RX-65 on windshield - people go into door .. one bar of x and one quick chearp out of the radar... THAT'S IT NOTHING ELSE.

Test 2 - windows up RX-65 In my hand facing automatic doors .. people go into doors and I get mid to strong signal (bars half way) and lots of chearps for even 6 seconds after doors close.

Test 3 - windows down RX-65 pointed out of window directly at automatic doors - People go in and the thing goes nuts .. chearps .. buzzes .. full bars ... it's alive .. it's alive!!

The best result was with the windows down and the RX-65 pointed at the doors, the next best was the RX-65 suspended in my hands with windows up and the worst test was the RX-65 mounted directly on the windshield.


WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW??? NO, I AM NOT SELLING THE CL! and it does not have distronic cruise

Help and advise appreciated .... also what's with all the lazer alerts I thought automatic doors only set off the x ..

Do the reset thing and try it with your other vehicle and see if it works better.

You drive an AMG yet you cheaped out and bought a detector off of ebay. Suck it up and buy a retail unit and quit complaining.

Easy man.. Every person is different and you can see individuals who drives cheaper cars and yet have the most expensive RD. FYI, not all millionaires drive a benz. Founder of amazon.com just drives a honda accord.

Suggestions:

1. Custom mounted RX65 under the hood.
2.. Sell your RX65 back on ebay and drive without a radar detector.
3. Change your windshield and keep your RX65. :roll:

Now we know that MBenz with distronic cruise control and AMG windshield sucks when driving with a radar detector.

It seems that the German boys @ Mercedes are not dumb enough to design a car that goes 200mph but doesn't allow use of radar detectors.

After about a 20 minute search of the owner's manual I found the following:

Yes. Mount your RD high in front of mirror in the "clear" area and all will be well.

Please help!! I had various Bel radar detectors and I have been very happy with them through the years. In fact, many saves from LEOS and when I saw the RX65 I decided to get it given my previous experience.

Well, so I get the unit, I read the book, plug it in and have been driving for 2 weeks now and NOT a *BEEP* peep out of the thing. NO electronic door openors (good) no leos setting it off (coming at me, coming behind me, passing them on the side of the road) NOT GOOD.

I also have a school zone with x band radar generated slow down signs that flash and my old Bel would go nuts a mile down the road, with the RX65 I passed the sign and it peeped a x band note for about 1 second.

WHAT'S GOING ON???? I mean com'on I love the elimination of false signals, etc. but there is gotta be something wrong here. My old Bel would go off and then 30 seconds later I would pass a leo or a leo would be coming behind me or etc. This thing I could crash into the police station and I doubt if it would even go off.

I also think I passed a photo radar van yesterday and I only hear a one tiny bleep and when I looked up to see what amazing event had set of this stealth detector it didn't show anything.

What can I do ????

Yes, I purchased it off of Ebay from a user with 2000 positive feedback .. yes 100% positive feedback. It came brand new sealed in a box with all stickers and serial numbers attached.

The worst part is I gave my old Bel 9500 to a friend and I'm driving a 500+ hp car with no protection ... it's ridiculous.

Please advise.

The bottom line is you can afford the Benz like others said get a Remote unit installed (sell the RX 65 on Ebay), and even spend the extra money and get the laser blocking (shifting)

Maybe buy a Bel 975 ?
