First version Firmware STI, should I flash?

Should I flash it? And if I choose to flash it, what all is involved? Does the factory charge for it?

What is the advantage and how will I be able to tell a difference?

As far as difference, you have to test it with a 33.8 radar gun and see if it is working properly.
