disappointed with Bel

After being on the fence for while I finally decided to buy a RD and decided on the STI. I called Bel on last Thursday, ordered the STI and made sure to ask for a current model, anything manufactured 2807 or newer to make sure the use has the latest code. Received my STI late yesterday, opened the box and STI reads 0507. Not good.

I'm sending the STI back just on principle. For me, first impressions are make or break and Bel blew it. I was hoping that Bel would live up to some of the posts here that state Bel is trying to do the right thing but they didn't, they blew it right from the start. They know that the unit has issues and that they have addressed over two months now and yet they are shipping back dated units to clear out inventory. What blows more is I asked for a current firmware unit, I didn't stutter, I didn't speak Martian or with language long extinct, just plan English. I guess that was to difficult. Oh well.

I guess I'll go back on the fence and wait for the next round of RD releases/updates and hope until that time I don't win the lottery.

FYI....I just got my STi back from being "Upgraded". I notice absolutely NO difference in "Real Life" performance.

The Horn13, you make a valid point about the unit passably being flashed to the current firmware level, however, for me, that's like saying "we updated our bullet proof vest design and those improvements were implemented after 2707. Your 0507 bullet proof vest, though at the time didn't have the updates, could passably now have the updates since we shipped it 3507. Trust us, it'll take the bullet."

I don't know about you, but I'm not going to see it if in fact it does have the updates or not. I'm going to return it. However, I'll see if they'll consider replacing it with a current version, if so, then I'll accept the exchange, it not, I'll be the one on the fence.

I contact Bel to let them know my dissatisfaction with this transaction and that I wanted to return the unit. They said they weren't sure how a 0507 unit was shipped (all i heard was, we're sorry, we thought you were sleeping and we could get over on you but we got caught) and that they would ship me out a shipping label to return the unit and that they would ship me out a new unit, one manufactured after 2707.

I agreed to the change/swap since I'm a big believer of second chances (god knows I needed them a few times) but still felt uneasy afterwards since the initial contact was less then favorable. Makes me think the relationship will continue along those lines, like a bad itch you cant get at. Good thing I picked up the extended warrantee.

I cant wait to see the manufacture date of the new unit. I think it will be funny if they send out yet another back dated unit. Will keep you posted
