Winter and my RD

So, for us lucky enough to live north of the boarder or, on the snow belt - do you leave your RD mounted during the winter? Will the Canadian cold weather let alone leaving my car parked out side Ralph Wilson stadium potentially damage my RD? Do you guys recommend taking the RD down when the car will be left for long periods of time in the cold?

This is my first winter with one, and i don't want to turn my STI into an expensive frozen paper weight.

Personally, I bring it indoors in extreme heat and cold. IMHO, sensitive electronics should not be exposed to temperature extremes for extended periods of time. Plus, leaving an expensive RD like the STI alone in the car at anytime just increases the chance of theft.

I also do not believe in firing up the ignition with the RD turned on. Not a good idea. :wink:

If this is your first winter then i would worry about snow tires and how you need to drive your car in snow storms... but to answer your question , one would suggest to take it inside your living arrangement to keep it save with all the conditions that can happened to the RD .

If you park outside and it's really cold, yes, a good idea to take it with you and bring it back when you leave next morning... I park underground so my STI stays always in the car, I take it down only in extreme heat when I have to leave the car outside for a long time...

But where is this Ralph Wilson stadium, is it Hamilton, Ontario?

hmm just wondering if there's any reports of sr7's, rx75's etc going bad from extreme cold. the components are the same I imagine. Only maybe the screws come loose, as mem-tek suggests, and they're stronger on the remote mount ones?
