Default Switching from V1 to STi - got hit by Spectre III

Well last week I was caught by an undercover cop here in VA using Spectre III. I was running the V1 so he was able to pick up on me.

So as of today i've sold my V1 and I plan on buying an STi, today...

I was looking on ebay, they're all going for $449 with the exception of a few. One ebay seller by the name of dougtheaterman has pretty good deals on his STis. He has a 2 year warranty, but I know the risks of ebay stuff - if they ever go out of business you're out of luck.

Are there any cautions I should take if I go the ebay route - are there "older versions" of the STi with certain issues that need an update? Lastly, with the ebay stuff are most of the $350-400 STi refurbished or something? I see some people selling them used after having them a while - can it still be sent to Beltronics if i need an update or something breaks?

    Anyways,
Just seeing if its a really bad idea going the ebay route or not. Cause if I can get a deal on there then cool, or is paying full price the only way I should go? I know its a risk, but is it a huge risk?

    Thanks

Sorry, forgot to add that - cause im sure va residents would like to know.

Its in Roanoke, VA. So in the SW part of VA. Its a county cop, gunmetal gray dodge charger - tinted windows, XM radio type antennas, everything.

But keep an eye out for those, he said he just recently got his new 'toy' AKA Spectre III so im sure V1 guys are going to be running into issues soon. It really sucks cause i've always been a total V1 guy till now.

Yea, sucks to be in VA now..... seems the cops are all getting the spectre 3's. Thats the main reason I dont sell my STi (I hate it to death because of the horrible ramp up, but at least it's a quality detector like the v1)

If they would fix the ramp up on it it would be awsome.... of course #1 would be a remote mounted STi....

cant wait till they get it here.

I might be mistaking but are you the same guy who got a ticket while driving in his friend car and you argued with the cop and then he mentioned to you that he detected your radar ....through RDD and every on the board said that it was your fault ... ... i might be wrong but any way ... if you want to pay the actual price i would advise you to get it from BELL ... NO to Ebay ... but its your money ... use it wisely ...
    Thanks

    haha no that wasnt me.

But anyways, yeah if you read my other post I went ahead and bought the STi from a certified distributor and not through ebay.

I decided it wasnt worth the risk.

Yeah I decided I couldnt go wrong with Roy.
