Two models of Vector 955?

Was looking at Beltronics site (owners manuals) and noticed they have seperate owners manuals for a black top or chrome top Vector 955.

What are the differences between this model colors?

The black label/decal is the older model. Mostly known as the S7 antenna.

The newer M4 antenna which can be found in almost all new vector models is a cheaper design. More cost beneficial for Beltronics but is said to have a little less range.


IMHO i would go for the older version with the S7 antenna over the m4 any day.

I owned a Bel 895 aka(radioshacks specific model copy of the 955) Just renamed for RS so they didnt have to compete with other electronics stores prices. Also i owned a 965 vector. Both were great Rd's def. compared to my first RD which was a cobra 9210.
