    Default My own BEL v940

When I got it I got 10% off so I was even more happy and a smile was on my face. I drove home from store (authorized store) and opened the package, I picked the detector up and was surprised on how much heaver it was than past whistler I had & returned due to too may false alerts.

I got excited and took it outside to install, after figuring out HIGH or LOW placement on windshield (went with low) I secured the suction cups and had my detector ready to go with ease.

I went with low setup at first

    b/c ..... I have a white/light car
..... I dont want to direct install it on this vehicle maybe the next
..... I didnt want the cord stretched to the roof, it looked silly when I attempted it.

I currently dont have a front License plate (it is partially due to a bend in it from somewhere or someone, I dont remember hitting anything) which might help the delay of the laser sending data back to the gun (Not sure)

Tell me what you think, I am open to reasonable suggestions and comments

After several comments and reading other posts pertaining to mounting high rather than low, I changed the mounting setup to high as you can see BELOW....

    Hi kuepol,

You got a nice deal on your new V940. Your installation location looks good. Most importantly it looks like you have your V940 mounted nice and level. I bet that you are already out driving around and looking for police operating their radar guns!

I like the way it looks high on windshield, it is not distracting at all anymore and I can clearly see it if I just move eyes slightly up....

The only issue is the cord (which is not shown in any picture, goes straight up and around rear-view mirror) which doesnt bother me any more. I plan on direct installing it on my next car.

Good job in moving the detector high! Even with a low mounted detector, your still screwed. You'll have something like .5 seconds to react and slow to PSL. Enjoy your new V940!

I too just got the 940, and I mounted it high and it didnt seem right, but my thing was the cord seem to be in my way, so I now have it mounted high left side of the RVM and the cord I put over the RVM and down to the plug. Works great! I love my 940, I would take a pic but its snowing outside to cold

    Hi penelopy19,

Thank the gods that you got talked out of buying a Cobra!. The V955 has a City No X setting in addition to the V940's City Low X setting. The City No X setting will completely block X band false alerts, but this can't be safely used in areas which still use X band police radar such as New Jersey. The V940 is not supposed to work with the SmartCord, but guess what? It does. All of the Vectors have the same sensitivity to radar -- just pick the Vector with the features you want vs what you are willing to spend. Its as simple as that.
