I've had Ku a few times driving through Montana/North Dakota but, now that I look back on it, I dismiss those due to the fact that I had a ****ty detector.

Ku with a Bel does sound interesting. What kind of detector do you have?

Maybe Spectre? Those things have leakage close to Ku. Otherwise, coincidence.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that only Cobras "alert" to Spectre/VG1/2.

ive seen a few construction signs (the ones with lighted arrows for lane closures) around the country that transmit ku. These are the same sighns in construction zones that can display your speed, but are normally on k, or ka band. did u see any of these around?

NO detector is advertised to detect the spectre III or later (Cobras can detect the Spectre I), but the leakage for the Spectre III's platform is somewhere in the 13GHz range, which overlaps a bit into Ku band.

So, it is possible that just like how Cobras can leak Ka band, the Spectre III can leak Ku. There's been reports over in the Whistler forum of unexplained Ku band encounters with LEO's which could possibly be the Spectre.
