Default Caught by laser using Bel Sti

So I just got a speeding ticket for 30 over in a 50 zone... I'm not too happy about this lol.. He caught me with a tripod mounted laser. My Bel STi was silent the whole time. I am pretty sure that I have the 33.8GHz bug as it rarely if at all warns me of 33.8. I've also never gotten a lazer/pop detection. I have the radar mounted with a visor clip. Does anyone know why it wouldnt warn me? Thank alot!

The reasons that the STi didn't warn you could be varied. Depending on the officer's range to your car, his laser beam may have only been 12-24 inches wide and if aimed at your front license plate, it may not shine on a high-mounted RD. There's a lot of what-if's which we may not know for that specific situation.

Had your detection system and reaction times worked to the best of their ability, it would have gone something like this:

    • 0.0 seconds - LEO lights up laser gun
0.2 seconds - Bel STi alerts laser warning
0.3 seconds - LEO's laser gun displays your speed
1.0 seconds - your brain says "WTF? Laser!"
1.5 seconds - your foot leaves accelerator
1.8 seconds - your foot reaches brake
2.0 seconds - brakes begin to slow vehicle
4.8 seconds - car reaches posted speed limit
127 seconds - officer asks if you knew how fast you were going

This is why laser jammers are able to sell at the prices they currently do.

LMAO "127 seconds - officer asks if you knew how fast you were going", Thats awesome I must say. But do you think that the older 33.8GHz bugged firmware would have an effect on laser? I know that there are many conditions and what-if's but would you recomend me flasing the device for this reason? I also noticed that it hasent been warning of leo's as much as I think it should. Last week I passed about 6 or 7 cops (3 that had people pulled over, one which was an undercover). And I had 1 ka 34.7GHz warning..... What do you think?

Maybe your area doesn't use 33.8?

As for laser, I got hit today, and the X50 didn't go off. It's mounted.

The 33.8 bug has nothing to due with laser detection.

Laser is very difficult to detect. The only radar detector to truly be able to detect laser threat is the V1.

I get hit with laser at least 2-3 times a week. My STi has only gone off 1 time. My V1 goes off almost every time.

The SR7 does have remote mounted laser detectors located in LEO target areas. These would do an excellent job of alerting you to the fact that you are screwed.

If the LEO is targeting center mass or the front plate you're RD could very well not pickup the signal. Especially if a tripod is in use. Sux but it's true.

Before I added the ZR3 to my SR7 I got a laser hit "FRONT SHIFTER" and slowed to the PSL. I started looking around and after minute or so there was a LEO standing out in the road with a PL3 waving me to the side of the road.

If laser is used in you're area you need a jammer.

This is why I keep my Bel 65 mounted low on the windshield...that is, until I get my jammer.

Idon't know how many laser zappings I'm unaware of. Haven't seen any cops pointing lasers at me, without accompanying warnings on my detector.

I guess I've been lucky enough to (1) not be speeding, each time, (2) not be speeding enough to bother with or (3) the combination of Laser Veil with my Bel 65 actually worked to give me time to slow down.

Still, I'm sure the cost of the Jammer will be repaid by a reduction in stress -- everytime I hear "Laser", man, do I panic!
