    Default IS A RX65 A GOOD CHOICE

I've seen many posts on RX65 issues but I was wondering if it is truely a great rd. I seen people complain about the ramp up problems and a few other things.I'm considering buying one instead of a 995 and was wondering if would be a good choice.

Well, from everything I have read on the forum concerning the RX65 and the 995 is that they both perform extremely well. Anotherwords, either of them will provide more than adequate warning. I guess you really have to ask yourself what are you looking for in an RD and which one fits your needs best.

I have just purchased a RX65 but I haven't had it long enough to give you any good opinions on it. So far so good though. I will have 3 days on the road this weekend with it. Hopefully I will run into some good alerts and play with the different features.
Outside Independence Hall when the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ended, Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it."

    For what it's worth...

I compared 1st gen 995 (S7) mounted high to RX-65 (also S7) velcro'd to my dash (center on 2001 Nissan Sentra) dash. 995 alerted about 2 seconds to 4 seconds faster on K/Ka. I was only able to test that way once. if I'd had more time, I would have tested in swapped positions.

I'm getting a newer 995 (which will probably be M4) and when it comes will run the local gauntlets to compare in both positions.

If you are considering the 995 because you don't want to spend the extra $, then don't because you don't get much more for money spent on the RX65. I own both, and I personally prefer the look of the 995, the soft carrying case, and soft buttons.

The visual ramp up on all Bel's units are OK, but the audio tones are what bug me. When at full alert, the tone is not steady like the Escorts and V1's, but rather an on off beeping tone.

The RX65 does have more meter options and a Ka USA option. Other than that, I would go for a the V995.

The RX65 comes in either red or blue, comes with a really nice metal case (or at least it used to, but now Bel's web site merely says "travel case included" but doesn't show a picture any more), and has one additional display option -- the Threat Display.

The V995 is only available in red, has all of the features of the RX65 except for the Threat Display, and comes with a synthetic padded hard shell case.

-- If you don't need the Threat Display then get the V995.

-- If you plan to mount your RD up high either just under your car's tint strip or above your RVM, then note that the RX65's more angled display is harder to see when the RX65 is mounted up high.

Bel radar detectors traditionally have and continue to have less annoying audio alerts in the from of two-tone whistles and beeps. The Bel audio alerts tend to be far less annoying, especially for passengers in your car.

-- If you prefer more "attention getting" audio alerts then I would recommend the Escort 8500 X50.

The RX65, Vectors and X50 are all built on the same M4 antenna platform, and all feature virtually identical performance. Note that the V995 and RX65 are sold internationally, so these models also feature the option to turn on Ku band too. If Ku band ever comes to the states it will be a bloody miracle and would mean that the end of the world must be near.

I agree with memtek, I have to respect his opinions. He knows what he is talking about. I have a Beltronics Rx65 version 6.1 with the m4 platform it works very well. I recently acquired a Vector 995 version 3.2 s7 platform that works very. just make sure you buy from an approved dealer.
