    Default sti concealed display...

Think it will ever happen? It would be nice to see something like that or even making the remote for the sti-r compatible, but then i guess thats why they charge the big bucks for the sti-r.

I doubt that it will happen even though it could be done relatively easily. Since the STi display and photocell are mounted on their own little plastic support which snaps into place at the end of the main circuit board and is attached via a ribbon to the main circuit board, the easiest solutions would be one of the following:

-- Design a new case cover with a notch out on the side of the case next to the display for a RJ-11 jack. Then design a new plastic support which incorporates the standard display, photocell, a new mini circuit board behind the display plus the RJ-11 jack for the remote display. The new mini circuit board would sense when the remote display is plugged in and automatically kill power to the standard display.

-- Design a new case display cover which extends further out from the STi's case by about a half an inch and includes a cutout for an RJ-11 jack. Then design a new plastic support as above which shifts the standard display rearward by a half an inch (into the new extended case display cover) and which incorporates a RJ-11 jack for the remote display.

These are the two ideas which have crossed my mind.

Except 1 key thing any tampering with the Sti could ruin its stealth properties.
