Default truck driver & have ? about STI driver

    Ok Guys.
I got the STI thurs. and have only had it in use a couple days but did get some miles with it on friday. My first observation is that it is no where close to the range on K band as my 995. As far as Ka, its little to early to tell but did have 3 bonofide ka alerts, 2 in st louis and 1 small town leo. Bottom line is this: My 995 seems to have better range on k and ka compared to this STI. It feels that the STI has a more aggressive filter on these 2 bands possibly than my 995? Or may be the difference between USA on STI and International on the 995. Not sure I'm sold on this STI yet but need more time with it. I do like the extra features and the idea of it being invisible to RDD's which is a must for me. I will check back middle of next week after I get some more miles with it and see where its at. Thanks guys.

Default truck driver & have ? about STI driver

I have it set on highway mode with x off, pop off, and sws off. Everything else on. I did have about a 1 mile alert tonight on a straight stretch of 4 lane highway form a city leo running 34.7 ka. But there is no doubt my S7 995 would have gotten 1 1/4 to 1 1/2mile alert. I can't put my finger on why there is a difference, but so far the STI seems to be lacking range compared to the 995. It came direct from Beltronics and was manuf. 1808 so it should be in tune and ready to go, but it may need sent back to get tweaked. Have had the 995 for 11 months so need to give the STI a fair shake, but so far my 995 spanks this STI. I will keep you guys posted as I get more miles in with it next week.

Another thing I have noticed that is different from my 995 is that the STI will drop an alert almost instantly after loosing signal where the 995 seems to hold it for a second or 2 before dropping the alert. Anyone else noticed this??? I also noticed that my STI will display the signal about a 1/2 second before giving you an audible alert, where as my 995 it is simultanious. I am starting to think that the difference may be in the off axis detection of the S7 vrs. the newer models, but I never dreamed that there would be this much difference in range. I am hating to think that I have to send this in for a tune and have only had it 4 days, but its not looking good so far for the STI compared to the 995. Maybe my 995 was just a freak too. I quess that is possible, but it is unbelievable on Ka and consistant on all 3 frequencys!
Thanks guys and any input would be appreciated on this. Anyone who has had a S7 995 AND a STI would be great to see if I am crazy or if anyone else has had these experiences also.

Unless there is something physically wrong with the hardware there is nothing they can do to fix it. Other than swap it out for one that may have higher DB's.

In reference to the dropping signal you are experiencing, I dont think its dropping signal, but reporting the true signal. When I compared my V995 to my STI, the 995 seems to keep alerting especially on K farther past the source, like it has a set time to alert past the source, where the STI seems to stop reporting faster after passing the source. In reference to Sensativity, your STI should be noticably more sensative on K band and just a little more sensative on Ka to the point you may have a dead heat between the 2 on Ka. In most of my comparing my STI to my 995 on ka they are real close in performance, especially on 34.7 I would try to find a drone to test them against one at a time.
