A4m9 sti falses by cellphone in highway mode

Has anyone noticed that a A4m9 will false xband by a CDMA cellphone in highway mode where the A3m8 will not?

Tested with 2 differnt cellhphones with 2 different STI A4m9.

Is there a topic on this already?

Been running my A4M9 STI since Sept '06 and always in highway mode but never got any falses except the regular K for banks, stores, dealerships, retirement homes, condos, etc., also what's a CDMA cellphone?

are you talking about x-band falses? If so I have seen something about old analog cell phones causing x-band falsing

CDMA is a digital mode, noticed the problem is much greater when using motorola Q phone from verizon, samsung cellphone also caused falses but phone needed to be much closer.

Problem happened with motorola q in EVDO and 1x mode.

false is around 10.5 ghz.

As stated problem is only with a4m9 version - 2 units tested both false in highway mode.

My A4M9 falses on X band due my old 700MHz cell phone, but only when I have the phone turned off and charging at the same time. I can live with that since it doesn't false when my phone is turned on and charging at the same time. Ask Mike B about 700MHz cell phone falsing issues. He can fill you in. 700MHz X 15 is 10.5GHz. Cell phones are notorious for producing higher frequency harmonics. Heck, my cell phone probably will give me brain cancer.

I considered sending my A4M9 in for a reflash for this issue, but decided not to since my A4M9 STi's performance is smoking on X band.

Yep I've noticed X falsing with my Sprint (CDMA) samsung phone when powered on and my 955 is in highway mode near it. Simple solution for me was to just move the phone far enough (2 feet away works fine for me) or put the RD in autoscan.

If I remember correctly, CDMA operates on 800mhz/1900mhz.

The 5th and 6th harmonics of 1900 are 9.5GHz and 11.4GHz, so I'd rule those out, but 800mhz x 13 = 10.400 GHz, slightly below X band. Could the phones be operating in a range 809.62MHz +/- 1.93MHz, which would cause falsing on X due to higher harmonics? Just because a phone is advertised as 800MHz doesnt mean that it operates only at 800MHz, but within a band centered on 800.

i got some X falsing tonight for 2+ miles and i have no idea wat it was but il drive without the phone and see wat happends..also had a 34.7 1.1 miles facing foward save :wink:

CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is used by Bell Mobility in Canada and Verizon in the States, while GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) is used by Rogers and Telus in Canada, plus ATT, T-Mobile and Sprint in the US. GSM is also the format used in Europe, and pretty much the rest of the world.

You said Bell Mobility in Canada, so a pretty popular cell phone comp in our area, I'm getting NO falses from ANYTHING other that regular (exactly the very same spots) K for banks, stores, condos, buildings with special alarm sensors, businesses, etc., every 2nd car in our area has a driver using a freaking phone while driving but my STI is extremely quite to this kind of sources, also I have my X band off...

it could be that the cellphone is leaking something..never seen this before though
