    Default Bel 955 interesting find/experiment --> laser

    Well Well Well, I just encountered my first laser today! how exciting (heart stopping)...I was driving home from work and I pass a local Elementary school and it turns out there is a LEO running laser enforcement. The first time I passed I was not targeted. I thought I might double back and see if i might be able to get the LEO to shoot me, and trip my RD. well she did...Before I doubled back I moved my RD way dawn on my windshield, a little above the wipers but enough it could grab a laser signal. My 955 about jumped off the windshield. I know there is skepticism about how much performance will be improved by moving your RD down on your windshield, but I thought I might state that it made the difference from my RD going off and not going off. I thought I might share my experience. haha

    BTW: I don't know the type of laser BUT I could see it was one of those horizontal laser guns the ones you hold up to your eye without a handle. About the size of a book. Just for kicks can someone tell me what type of laser this is just by the description?

    I guess from now on I'll be placing my RD further down on my windshield. I drive a 2004 Toyota Corolla S

    OOH, I didn't get a ticket.

    stevo1569: Would you happen to recall at what distance (in feet) you were targeted? Thanks in advance!

    When I doubled back to see if the cop would target me it was around 300ft. But what is funny is how long the alarm went off for. I have a very dark blue Toyota Corolla with considerately small headlights. My RD went off a couple of seconds from when I made the U-Turn (300ft away from the LEO) to about 50ft in front of the LEO. I think the laser gun had a hard time picking up a reading on my dark car. Note: I have no countermeasures (Veil, Jammer) AND I have no front plate.

    I would say by moving my RD that 1ft down on my windshield it gave it a much better view of the beam.

    Cool Re: Bel 955 interesting find/experiment --> laser

    Hello I test yesterday my blinder m25 j16 with my Bel vector 940 against the Laser Patrol Xr
    We try 4 times and the Rd bell Never alert with laser.

    Blinders alerts and jam all the time, only near about 10f-20f the gun read the speed of my car

    Well the blinders are probably in your grill around <1ft from where the laser is shot. No wonder you blinder alert goes off. But I'm not surprised your RD didn't go off. Mine didn't the first time. Like I said I had to circle back and be the only car in the lane to lure the cop in...I'm getting Veil though

    When we were doing GOL 2008 laser jammer testing, even the V1 had a lot of trouble detecting the Traffipatrol XR. I doubt any other RD will detect it at all.

    Most RDs will continue to alert for laser well after the laser has ceased targeting you. Although I don't have a 955, this holds true for the STi Driver. I suppose its so you don't dismiss the alert.
