A good while back I found out that GPS is always active within the 9500i. Turning GPS off or on merely affects how the firmware uses the GPS information.
I also noticed today that the FCC have internal photos of the GX65 on there site...In the pictures they list a old GPS board and a new GPS board for the same detector...I wonder why and what does the new GPS board have that the old one doesnt and what production date did they switch boards.

Ok I called Beltronics tonight and asked about the difference in the GPS boards and was told only one was produced in the unit...They had another GPS board that was just a prototype but wasn't used because it did cause interferance...I also asked about comparison of the GX65 vs the 9500i and 9500ix. I was told that they are very similar but due to software and a slight design difference the GX65 will out perform both 9500's especially in 35.5 detection and K band across the board.....
That's good news, would like to see some tests to see if its actually true though. Especially on 35.5, the 9500I is pretty good with it already.
How your GX65 been on KA? any 2mi+ range, or good off axis examples?
I have had one 2+ mile detection on the highway and a 1+ mile detection in town...The in town pick-up was I turned onto a Main rd off a side street and as soon as I started making the turn I started getting the alert...I thought he was close but I kept driving for a while and sure enough a mile and a half later around a very slight right hand curve he was sitting in a BP station parking lot shooting toward traffic....I was impressed.
