Beltronics V940 Laser Band and the Sun

It's it normal for the Laser band to go alert me while in direct line with the sun??

I find it a bit annoying for this thing to go off early in the morning and late afternoons, I bought the V940 about a week ago from CircuitCity so I still have time to exchange it for a new one.

yeah they do that, so does the 955 and the 995. Most RDs will alert to the sun. You can make it better by changing where you mount it.

Mine's mounted high (rear view mirror level) on the windshield of an F-150, any suggestions as to where I should mounted?

I would try above the rear view mirror if you have a tint strip if not that's the best you can do, you really cannot do much about it. When I was using my 955 for my primary detector I had to deal with the same thing. Once I switched to the V1 I have yet to have problems with falsing from the sun, it must have better filtering.

I have a v940.
when is cold or power on in the morning , Doesn't alert with laser.
Only when is hot because of sun.
I test vs a Laser Patrol 3 and for example in the night doesn't work or not alert laser.But in the highway in a hot days alerts many times against the same gun
Some similar problems with yours 940?only work vs laser when is Hot?

I have the old style V940 & it only gives me false laser alerts on a certain road in my area. I havent figured out where its coming from yet It happens at any time of day. I know its not LEO. I would have recd several tickets and a few court dates by now if it was This old unit still works great but I think Santa will be dropping the 9500 in my sock this year
