Your only choice for up there is a RD that is Undetectable by the Spectre.

There are 2 issues with older Sti's.
1) Older versions of the Sti had a known "bug" in detecting 33.8 Ka, which conveniently is the radar freq. used by Metro Toronto police. Since this freq. is very close to the false alerts caused by Cobras, the Sti's algorithms would sometimes mistake a weak 33.8 for a Cobra, then continue to ignore the signal until you were literally on top of the police car with the radar gun. I've seen this problem with my own eyes (including with my own Sti). After denying the problem existed, Bel finally did come out with a 33.8 "fix" for older units, and newer units produced within the last couple of years do not have the software bug. Call Bel to see if the unit you're looking at has the 33.8 upgrade.
2) Ramp up issues. This is more of an inconvenience than a "problem." Alot of users on this forum didn't like the fact that the Sti's ramp-up basically sucked, and Bel has resolved this problem with a ramp-up fix. Again, newer units (last few months) don't have the problem. FYI, the ramp up is how the detector increases its audible alerts as you get closer to the radar signal. The V1 and other Bel/Escort detectors have nice linear alerts that get more urgent the closer you get to the radar source. The Sti for whatever reason, lacked this nice linear ramp up, and didn't really help you in determing how far you were from the radar gun
Hope this helps.

looks like the model I want to get has last digits 3706 so if I am reading the old post correct it should have all the updates from new?
ps when buying a used sti if a update comes out in the future can I still get it? or is there a charge?

No worries. Just buy an STi and send it to Bel for software upgrades. You can't go wrong.
is that what the 06 means in the 3706? year made?
from reading a older post guys said the fix was needed up to <2607.
can any one get a update? I was going to buy the bel used
what charge is there to do this?
just shipping out to them?
Yes, 37th week of 2006.
This date is for the 33.8 fix. So, this unit would need both the 33.8 fix and the rampup fix.
As long as it has a Bel serial number.
It's not under warranty, so there will be a charge. I don't know how much. You'll have to call Bel and ask them.
