If TrueLocked worked without ever having a chance of blocking out police radar, I would definitely consider it over the Valentine One. When I first heard of TrueLock I was skeptical. My first thought was, "How can it know that it is a K band door opener and not K band police radar because they both work in the same frequency range?" Then I thought about how Jimbonzzz said that door openers are more prone to frequency drift. Jimbonzzz also said that the frequency display is only so accurate on the $300-$500 Belscorts because it is not a $50,000 lab test unit. Sure, we haven't heard of any speeding tickets yet, but most of the people on this forum know its limitations and look for the spinning satellite icon when they think something is fishy. The average person doesn't know of its technical limitations or doesn't have access to CJR238's small but helpful 3,592 word essay on TrueLock.
I will bet money that people have received tickets but they are not on this forum, or they are too embarassed to admit they got one because they dropped $500 on a radar detector that failed them, or they think the cop is lying about picking them up on radar, or maybe they think they were paced, etc. They are probably alot like the Escort users on this forum, they don't want to admit there is a problem because that would be admitting defeat or maybe they are completely clueless as to why they received a ticket. I would buy a Belscort if Escort or Bel could make a radar/laser detector where TrueLock would have a 0% chance of blocking out police K band in a TrueLocked area, with arrows and a front and rear radar antenna that is upgradeable from home with excellent customer service like Valentine Research has provided for me.
I think of my radar detector as a security guard working in the dark protecting my house. I would rather have my guard tell me he thought he saw a shadow in the moonlight rather than filter it out and tell me nothing and assume his eyes were just adjusting to the light. I would rather have my guard tell me that he thought he heard a twig snap rather than filter it out and tell me nothing because he thought it was just a squirrel eating an acorn. The shadow or the twig snapping could have been a real threat but I wouldn't know about it if the guard was filtering all of the information he received and making uneducated guesses. I like all the information I receive in life to be raw with no filters and no misinformation.
I would rather have too much information than too little which is why I roll with a Valentine One.
