    Default Beltronics STi Driver

Should I select highway mode when driving on the highway? If so, what is the difference.

Highway is just what is says, for the highway. The difference in what? Did the Sti come with a manual and have you read it?

Highway mode has the least amount of filtering against false alerts. Thus it is most sensitive in highway mode.

City mode reduces X band sensitivity (and K too, I believe on the STi), to reduce false alarms due to things like automatic door openers commonly found in urban areas. Autoscan uses a more "intelligent" filtering algorithm to minimize falses without affecting sensitivity as much as City mode.

There are also City LoX and City NoX modes. City LoX reduces X band sensitivity further, and NoX disables X band entirely in city mode. You would only use NoX if you know X band isn't being used in your area.

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Just ordered dual LI jammers. Now wondering if it was a smart purchase. As thye are illegal where I live, the first time a cop pulls me over and suspects jammers, i'm done. I guess I'll find out soon enough if the cost was justified.

Most of the guys who use jammers use them to brake to the posted speed limit and then turn off the jammers allowing the cop to get their speed. Sometimes this works, others the laser gun showes a code it has been jammed. I would not worry about jammer laws cause the penalty getting caught with one installed is not that expensive. Yet

Congrats on the new STI. Its a good unit. I have been really pleased with mine.

I didnt realize the LI was detectable to the laser. If that is the case, then it doesnt make sense purchasing jammers?

Only some guns do and it makes sense if you slow down and kill it then they get a slower speed then nailing you at a higher speed

And quite frequently officers see error codes on their laser guns even when no jammer is being used against them. Still, it is important to check your speed and then kill the jammers as quickly as possible, but its also a good idea to not brake so fast that the front of your car nose dives.
