Bel 955 is slow to respond

I bought a new 955 off of Ebay (my mistake) and noticed for a few months now that the detector sounded off longer after the police car passed then before they did, thought that was weird. Lately I have been testing it on a stretch of road that has three radar signs and have discovered it is not the range that is the problem but a 5 to 6 second delay from receiving radar and responding.

Do I have a bad rd? I have tried multiple settings, pop on/off, sws on/off, autoscan on/off, nothing makes a difference.

Any suggestions?

What band does it alert to in these situations? Have you tried a reset of the unit? Many of us know Belscorts can be slow, but not 5 or 6 seconds slow. It could be a lower powered Ka in the cruisers rear windows, but still something doesn't sound right.

Did you turn pop on? I had a v965 and i felt like it delayed in alerting when i turned pop on.. but i tried it recently and it didn't do too bad compared to my v1 in a city situation.

It seems to delay whether or not pop is on or off or anything else for that matter, ie, sws, autoscan. The signs are K band but the delay seems to happen on any band.

I will try a reset and see if that works.

I did a reset, didn't seem to make a difference. I was mistaken about the bands of the signs, they are Ka, not K, but again the RD delays on all bands it seems. Is a firmware upgrade possible? Will Beltronics upgrade it if I didn't buy it from an authorized dealer? Will that even work?

Buying on ebay, you don't have a mfr. warranty but if the serial # is still on the unit, they should be able to service it for $60 or $80.

Evidently I posted that the reset didn't work in haste. I noticed today at two different locations that the rd picked up the stationary radar devices at much longer distances than before. One is Ka band and the other was K. So maybe the reset did the trick, I am hoping for good, we will see.

I figured I didn't have a warranty due to where I purchased it.
