360 degree detection? Ahahahaha!! Ahem, sorry. I need to go look at my RX65 box and see if it really says that, cause it's pure marketing BS. The RX65 has one radar horn, and it points forward. What it might do is pick up stray radar signals reflected back at you when shot from the rear but that's about it. Only the Valentine One has true 360 protection.

Sounds like you got hit by either laser or instant on, the RX65 is "fair" at laser and average (at best) at instant on and quick trigger.

It is not false advertising. I receive advanced alerts from behind with our forward facing horns all the time. Radar emissions are radio waves. Radio waves are highly reflective, not unidirectional like laser. Your radio doesn't need line of sight with the transmitter tower to receive it's signal.

The front and rear horn design, while it does help rear sensitivity, is for the arrow indication function. It compares the front horn's signal strength with the rear's to determine if the signal is stronger from the front, behind, or equal (side).

You can get warning from a Belscort from behind the detector no problem. It's just that the V1 has a advantage in rear detection you get better range because it has a rear facing horn and have a better chance of picking up a weaker signal.

Hopefully you don't have to to drive in NC on a regular basis because your privilege to drive in NC will probably be suspened for at least 30 days unless you hire an attorney that pleads it's down to something that won't results in suspension.

What really blows is what the Virginia DMV will do to you. If you are convicted of 20mph over the limit or more even if out of state it is 6 points, same amount of points as a drunk driving conviction! I can’t speak about the RX65, haven’t used one, just for a heads up, NCHP uses a lot of VASCAR.

You can see it daily on I-85 between Kings Mtn to north of Charlotte where I am and probably most places in NC where there’s a ramp / hill. The HP was on TV a while back saying there is so much traffic they cannot pin point which vehicle is doing what speed with their radar, so they have switched to using VASCAR and saving radar for less travelled roads.

Even on the less travelled roads, Hwy 74 from Charlotte to Saluda, I’ve found them working the ramps / hills consistently with VASCAR.

Hey man, sorry to hear about this. I can feel your pain though. I got nailed in NC too back in 2007 by the highway patrol on the I-440. I was running an 8500 (non-X50) and got no alert. She said she was using IO radar. In retrospect, I think the shot was from behind after I passed her cruiser, and probably quick triggered so that is why my 8500 didn't alert. Look on the citation. There should be an "R" next to your speed if radar was used. It could also be X band. I remember encountering it sometimes in NC. I think it was the Highway Patrol using it as well. I know they also have lidar. There could be a number of reasons why you didnt get an alert but those are just a couple off the top of my head. I hired an attorney to dispose of the citation. He got it reduced so there were no points and the fine was knocked down a bit too. I still had to pay the court costs and his retainer fee. Live and learn I guess. I do wish you the best of luck in dealing with the ticket though.
