    Default STI-R Question

Can X band be turned off on this unit or is it only selected Ka band frequencies?

Thanks for the quick reply. I am considering going with the STI-R instead of the 9500ci due to ZR4. Do you know how often the STI-R falses on K band? I have become accustomed to my 9500i and am worried the lack of GPS might drive me crazy with K band alerts.

Mine falses quite a bit on K band seeing as I always run it in highway mode. I've just come to learn the frequencies at certain places around the city so I know what is a false and what isn't, then just mute it immediately when it comes on.

What bands are effected when you go to city mode? I assumed city mode would only lower the sensitivity for X band.

The STI-R should cut back on K-band falsing in Autoscan

The STi-R is not designed for city life. Autoscan will cut down on the falses a little, but it will still be quite noisy around town.

I love the fact that the STi-R uses a real Autoscan. It works pretty well too. I might make some vids of hwy vs autoscan vs city. (on a stretch of road with a lot of k-band falses.)

Does city mode effect ka band sensitivity? I will be turning X band off since I have not encountered it in the past 5 years. It has been over a year since I have seen K band. 99% of the time I see ka or laser. I could live with reduced k band sensitivity in city mode in return for eliminating more falsing as long as ka is not effected.
