    Exclamation Bel STi range...awesome (Pic)

So I was on my way to work this morning...the same route I go everyday. As I pass a set of train tracks....a weak Ka band went off...strange never has before at this area...I thought nothing of it. I continued forward heading west. The signal slowly started to get very strong as I approached another road. On the OTHER side about 100yards away and closing to the same intersection is a female RCMP officer shooting Ka constant. The picture is a rough estimate but i'm sure I was more then 1.2km away. The terrain isn't flat also...there is tiny hills and bends that aren't seen on the picture and lot's of buisness's. I am very impressed...as first i thought it was an error...but 2mins later I seen that police officer coming towards me with a good 2min warning in advance.

Click on pic to enlarge. I'm at work so had minimal editing programs. I am in the market for a camera to mount. Marker-A is "me" B-RCMP

Insane range. The grayed out area 'griffin" is a huge factory where they build train wheels....that map pic doesn't show the depressions in the road and little hills...the fact that the LEO was pretty far up the road before I came up to the intersection....and then saw a good 100-150yards what the STi was detecting...I can only say that it was probably very close to 2km when I first detected the LEO. I was driving very slow trying to find the signal....I beat the LEO to the 4-way stop...then she appeared...very awesome lol

Thumbs up Re: Bel STi range...awesome (Pic)

I too had a surprising experiance with my STi-R. It detected a speed camera van on a very weak K band signal from 1.66klm away. I know this because i spotted it early on in the day and the next time i was heading in that direction i reset my trip computer when i heard the first alert. Then took note of the distance my trip computer displayed as i passed the van. Awesome performance i must say. It was set on autoscan not highway FYI.
