K band pull over

So I was driving down the empty highway late at night going > 140kmh. I heard a K band warning go off the STi and let off the gas to slow down (no brakes applied). I didn't slam the breaks or anything because I know from experience that K band often sets off false warnings in the city (dumb of me considering it was an open highway, far from civilization). Anyhoo, about 15 seconds later I got pulled over (LEO was hidden in the median). I was VERY surprised to see that the detector gave almost no warning as I had slowed down to 100-110kmh and the LEO still caught me > 140kmh.. I realize that I didn't slam the breaks.. but I did slow down in about 10-15 seconds or so. My guess is he only turned it on when I was within rage and got my speed very quickly. I can't complain because it has saved me more times then I can remember. Any thoughts or comments?

15 seconds at 140 MPH is over 1/2 mile of warning. Don't think you can blame the STi here. Looks like operator malfunction to me!

Sounds like he might have hit you with I/O too, and there is no defense for that except using a rabbit, or spotting him first before he gets the shot off.

Yeah I do admit it was my fault.. I do blame myself for not slamming the breaks when I heard it.. I wont post the exact speeds for my own security but he did reduce it quite a bit lol. A few more and I would have been walking home.

It was most likely Quicktrigger or Instant On. I personally think it was a bit stupid for you to be going that fast even if it was in the middle of nowhere and apparently without a rabbit. There was no way a radar detector could have saved you unless there was a car ahead of you that he hit with QT or IO for you to detect. Never speed like you were without a rabbit. Even if you had gotten an alert off a car in front of you, you would have most likely been going too fast to slow down in time before he hit you.

Radar only takes 3 seconds, and at 140mph(unless you mean KPH), no radar detector could possibly save you from your own stupidity.

I completely agree with you. I was not going that fast with the intention of being saved by the STi. I don't want you all to think I am bashing its performance, like I said it saved me many times before. I have only gotten 2 tickets including this one and the other was lidar... STi was silent.
