Thread: v955 or v995

    Default v955 or v995

I'm not sure which one I should get... The v955 is 139.99 while the v995 is 199... I really would rather not spend the extra 60 dollars, but if I'm getting a lot better radar/ laser detector for the extra 60 dollars im game. Does anyone know if the v995 is much better then the v955?

    Thanks

I have two v995's. one is the M4 and the other is the S7 both are very good and I really like Tech Mode and you can turn off X band if you like. I'm sure the V955 is a great RD. I owned a V940 before I got the V995 and it was a very good RD. It's a win win situation

I would always suggest the Vector 995 over the 955 any day due to the extra range you will get with it. If the extra range is not that important and you feel safe with the 955 then go a head and get that and save the $60 for extra accessories, most important one of all a Laser Jammer.

I know that Beltronic claims that the Vector 995 have better range than the Vector 955 but this is not true. According to GOL all Vector detectors have the same range.

The v995 has the exact same sensitivity as does the v955 and every other Bel Vector. This claim by Bel on their website that sensitivity improves as you climb up the Vector line is completely bogus. The extra money for the v995 buys some very nice features, but it does not buy range.

I use my BelV955 around the city and rural areas and V1 for strictly highway driving. I have had endless saves with the Bel V955 on Ka and K band, also one laser scatter before I got the V1. It's a very good unit for the money I would listen to DJ on this one and go with the 955 it is just as good as the 995.

I run a V955 its a couple years old and it works great. I stepped up from a whistler and the upgrade was well noticed. I drive allot everyday I have had laser shots with the rd being mounted right by the RV Mirror I get alerts every time that i know of. Ka and K are great straight long shot C/O best up to 1 1/2 maybe more he was moving towards me. O/A Ka and K you still get at least 1/2 mile for a Bel I think is not bad. Also X band C/O 2 miles easy. So I hope this gives a good idea what you are buying with the V955. Its not a V1 or STI but for under $200 great RD!

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I am going to get the v955, but I'm still thinking about the v995.
