shouldnt it be the same? same company, same function except for autolearn and small price difference....
Something to think about is resale. High end escorts get good money back on ebay while the Bel not so good. I would get the 9550ix just for that reason. You never know if you need the cash later on.
Also, IMO the alert tones SUCK for Bel. The 9500ix's are much better.
I am biased but for the reasons stated and the future upgrades (when they finally come)
ESCORT 9500ix for the $50 There is a bunch of value in the $50
i dont know, my friend has the 9500ix, i have the gx65 but i like the tone from the gx65 better. although the female voice sounds pleasant to the ears. but i gets me more attention from the guys voice.
They are the same detector except for auto-locking, basically. The $80 trade-in and given that auto-locking can accidentally lock a true LEO made it easy to opted for the GX65. Resale is a very minor concern.... present an auction appropriately and you can do very well. I've been selling things on fleabay for years, and when I sold my Whistler XTR690 I managed to sell it for more than I paid (big tip: make sure you make it available to overseas buyers!).
The GX65 supports software upgrades as well.
If you buy a detector based on a possible unforeseen need for cash in the future, then I assert that you're probably too broke to be in the countermeasures game.![]()

I would go with the 9500ix, it's much more likely to be supported in the future and it has better alert sounds. Detection wise they're more or less the same unit.
The only difference between the two is the TrueLock feature, which some will say will lock out a real alert, which can potentially happen but is rare, and if it does, you can always manually erase it, I would say spend the extra $30 and get the 9500ix, it is good for the money
9500IX: $499 - no current trade-in program = $499
GX65: $469 - $80 rebate = $389
Its a $110 difference.
As to which will more likely be supported in the future, does anyone have definitive word from them to back up that statement, or is that just opinion with no basis in fact? They share the same hardware platform, why wouldn't they support both?
