RX-65 not staying on mount

The weather has enabled me to drive my old '95 Miata more frequently, and for the first couple days I was using my RX-65 because the blue display matches the lighting better and it has the voltage display.

Unfortunately, any time I'm driving on anything less than a glass-smooth roadway, it consistently unworks itself from the mount every 10 minutes or so. It seems to click into the mount properly, but I can pull it free without using the release button with not a lot of force.

I don't have any problems with my 955 that's a few years older.

Is this just the way they all are, or if I send it in is there a good chance it'll actually be fixed?

(I don't want to use my V1 because I'd be constantly shuffling it around and leaving it in a car that accepts pockets knives as keys.)
