Thumbs up Bel RX65 Blue Professional Radar Detector not WORKING

Hi, I have just purchased this unit RX65 and I have a feeling it's not working properly. I have passed by many police cars and the radar never have gone off once. It's only good at picking up random X-band and K-band from grocery store doors. Is this unit broken? or is this normal.

Also, How high do you have to mount the radar detector? I have just mounted it right above the windshield wipers. Is this a good location?

    Thank You!

Remember it's a radar detector not a police detector. I hate to say it but it sounds like it's working to me. Not every car has radar and not every car that has radar has it on.

    Normal.

Your detector is a radar detector not a cop detector. Not all cop cars are equipped with a radar unit.

In PA the locals are not allowed by state law to run radar, only the PSP can run radar. And they seem to use alot of handheld K band guns.

Don't panic, it's not broken. It'll only pick up cops actively running radar. If it's alerting to motion sensors it's working just fine. Drive past your local police station or find a speed sign to test it against.

My RX65 worked best when mounted high, but if Laser is a concern in your area you may want to compromise and mount it lower.

I have driven around Police Stations, it would not ring. It sometimes would ring if I'm door to door to the police station. isn't it suppose to warn me at least a mile before, even a half a mile? Thank You.

Probably alerting to the motion sensor on the station entrance rather than a cop. Be patient, you'll get a real alert sooner or later

1 to 1.5 miles is not uncommon, around curves it'll be less though.

A half mile save is great but its not always that far. The RX-65 is not as good picking up off axis radar as the M3 detectors are so you might not get alot of reaction time. I've run an RX-65 since it came out and its an excellent detector but you still need your situational awareness. A cop who is selective with I/O is dangerous no matter what you run. Use it for awhile and get used to it. When I first got my Redline I couldn't find a cop running anything for days! Better to get the alert when you're looking for it and not when you're PSL+20! Good luck!

Here are some of my RX-65 videos almost all of them are against the ISP's Ka35.5/33.8. This should give you a idea of how the RX-65 does in the real world in fairly flat terrain. Mine is pretty hot on Ka band but weak against K band.
