RX65 - Should I disable POP mode?

What happens if I disable POP mode? Will it show the alert as Ka band or will it completely ignore those signals? I read somewhere on this forum that you should disable POP as it hinders performance.

When I drive through Calgary (on highway) I get the occasional POP alert. It's loud and obnoxious, startles me, and never leads me to seeing a cop, ever. I feel as though it's simply a weak Ka signal coming from a city street that the radar detector briefly caught a glimpse of, and decided to make it a POP alert. Would that be accurate, and would that signal have shown as Ka if POP was disabled?

Your detector will behave normal with POP mode turned off. In fact, all Belscorts ship from the factory with POP disabled......for good reason!

With POP enabled you will get Ka falsing from other "leaky" radar detectors and reaction times to all other radar bands other than 33.8 will suffer.

Turn POP off and put the detector in SPEC mode. Drive around for a week or two and see if the Ka used in your area is 34.6 - 34.8 (Stalker), 35.4 - 35.6 (Kustom / Decatur) or 33.7 - 33.9 (MPH). Only the MPH units are POP capable and are pretty rare. MPH also makes POP capable units transmitting on K-Band (24.050 - 24.250) but Belscorts don't detect K-Band POP in any case. So unless you see frequencies between 33.7 - 33.9, POP would be of no value to you.
