    Default Rx65 not loud enough

Has anyone compared the maximum volume with an RX65 and a X50 (tone set at loud)? My RX65 is not loud enough for me. My old 830i was way louder. I think an X50 with tone/loud has more volume than my RX65. Has anyone done a similar comparison? Comments? Thank you.

Your RX65 uses a regular speaker while the X50 uses a piezo style speaker which can prodece louder, more piercing tones. I believe the RX65 uses a regular speaker for voice purposes.

I don't have an x50 to compare but I agree the volume is kind of sad. When I used it in a convertible I basically couldn't hear it over the wind noise and radio.

Thanks for the replies. It is kinda sad. I used to have a Bel 830i and the volume was so loud I could easily hear it with the stereo turned up. Anyhow, I'm going to switch the RX65 for a X50 and see how that works out. Hope it's not a bad decision.

Another option is to get the external speaker Beltronics sells. That would be louder than anything, but you'd need a place for it and to run power to it.

Never had an issue with the volume on my RX65, even with the windows down and radio blaring. Have you tried adding an external speaker?

Trying to keep "stuff" to a minimum. Don't want to go the external speaker route if possible. I'm driving an Econoline work van and like the tunes up loud at times. Don't really see why a new and improved one isn't as loud as the old one. It is a warning device after all.

I agree on the volume. Sometimes you can hear the RX-65 loud enough. What I do to compensate is have the pilot mode set for H, and when I get an alert, the whole display goes to Spec mode. This sudden change in the red display usually catches my peripheral vision because it is mounted high, next to RVM.

My new Redline doesnt have this problem, it has the opposite problem. It can get annoying, lol.

My Bel has the same problem but I use it more than the X50.

So you find that the RX65 works better than the X50?
