    The RX65 is upgradeable right?

    The firmware seems to be. I don't know about the hardware (although there are at least two antenna versions, I don't think that one is up/downgradeable to the other). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Yes it is (software), actually even the older vectors such as my 985, and even its counterpart original 8500, X50, rx65... etc. They all are (well not the STi, as Bel for some strange reason said no... hmmm just in case a spectre 4 does come out in a few years?). But so far Beltronics nor Escort have never done a software flash programing upgrade.

    I have specificlly contacted both recently and their reponse is simple, only when NEW radar frequency comes out will they do so. For some reason they do not acknowlegde that POP is a "new police threat" as stated in their marketing advertisment for upgradability. Now talk about a force that would want to prevent Ku developing a real theat, imagine the flood of units in for an upgrade! They sure must know something in order to fee good about yaking up a storm about their RD being upgradable! Ku sure does not seem like it will ever be out, someone here stated "mark my words!".

    So in conclusion... Yes it is, but, Beltronics will not do so.

    BEL was more than willing to upgrade my software from 3.6 to 4.5 when i called today and asked if they could do it

    Well I guess that is a worthy point, but they would not upgrade a old 985 or an orininal 8500. I guess my point is, when Bel does discontinue the rx65 and come out with the next best thing over that one, I would be willing to bet that Bel will not upgrade your rx65 anymore. What the term in the biz "obsolete technology"... or "end of life/product support" statement. Anyways. Whatever. :roll:
