Post Bel V940 New Comer Questions

    Hello community!
I am new here to the forums and would like to ask a thing or two to the people who really know!!

I had just bought a Bel v940 (actually a V6 but had learn they are the same) and was just wondering if i should mount it high on my windshield. Actually, where i live (Puerto Rico) i had never seen a LIDAR (LASER) gun used by the LEO's. Only thing i had been hit is K-band and Ka-bands and occasionally X-band (very rare).

I was thinking on mounting it high on the windshield for those reasons... What do you think?

Also i was wondering if I should turn on the "POP" feature on my RD...

Is "POP" the same thing as "Pulse" or "Instant-On"??

i was twice hit with one of those and my Whystler XTR 335 detected it as P for Pulse(that stated on the manual)... Should i turn on these feature? will it improve performance?

Any help will be apreciated!! Thanks!!!

Correct. Higher is better. The higher your RD is mounted, the better the radar detection range. Mounting low for picking up LIDAR is a conceptual fail, because it won't save you from getting a ticket. You might have a better chance of knowing you've been hit by LIDAR when mounted lower, but it will still just be a speeding citation notification machine. If LIDAR is a problem, get a jammer.

No. Leave it off. It reduces the overall performance of the radar detector and the odds of you getting hit by actual pop and your V6 actually detecting it are probably around the same as being struck by lightning. Only one company, MPH Industries, make radar guns capable of pop. Their units are not very popular and only a few of their units are actually capable of pop. Not only that, but of the units that are actually capable of pop, almost no LEOs run it in that mode, so you're not likely to come across pop ever in your life.

No. All radar guns made today are capable of instant-on. The operator leaves the unit in hold mode so that it is not emitting radar, then when the operator spots a potential speeder within range of the radar gun, he takes it out of hold mode and aquires the driver's speed. This strategy is used specifically to defeat RD users.

The V6 doesn't have this feature and it won't improve performance on your Whistler either. Pulse is kind of an outdated word for instant-on. It doesn't hurt anything though to have that feature enabled, so it's up to you whether you want to be alerted to instant-on as pulse or be alerted like any other radar alert.
