The 895 is listed as being more sensitive (10x) than the 955 (8x), same as the 995, 965 and such. I HOPE this is correct because this was very important to me that it had such sensitivity.

My old 985 box says it is 15x (yeah I realize that might be becasue of the comparison to other detectors at that time).
The 895 is still a good buy! I think there is a advertisement ploy to get you to buy the 965 for $50 bucks more, because if you look at it, after the corrections, the extra money for the 965 is a waste when you can get the same in the 955/895 for less! As far as the 10x/8x thing, again now that is questionable. And the lp905, well my bet is that the same telephone jack will work. Don't sweat it tsapilot. Remember Bel is trying to sell you the more expensive product but at the same time still attracting people for less money. And as far as Radio Shack goes well they are marketing their top of the line product. :wink:
