Default STi-R plus no longer works?!

I recently installed my STi-R plus. I was on a long drive and thought that I would go into setup for the first time. I could remember the buttons to hold, so I held down 2 (I think the 2 on the left) for a few seconds. The displays said something like "receiver off". I tried it again and nothing happened. Indeed, now my radar receiver no longer detects anything, ever. I did figure out how to enter settings, but I can't figure out how to get the radar to work again. I even did a factory reset. The GPS based alerts (speed trap, etc) still work, but nothing from the radar receiver. Do you guys have any advice?

Haha classic. You deactivated the ''radar detector feature'' of the STiR Plus. Once you do that, you MUST plug it in to your computer and enable it that way. There is no way to re-activate the receiver in your car without plugging it to detector tools. In detector tools you go in user preferences and you look for User Alerts. You put it to ON, upload the info to your Plus and you are good to go.

Rumour is, Beltronics did that because if you travel in illegal detector territory and you want to be super legal, you might deactivate your receiver and only use your Plus for the gps features. The fact that you can't revert back to the RD without a computer could be to fool LEOs that tries to make it work for prosecution purposes.

Asinine on Beltronics part, as not everyone does not have a Windows laptop, and Detector Tools on a Mac will not re-activate the receiver. Get caught with your STI-R Plus where it is illegal in Canada and your car will be impounded.
