Question Bel STi Magnum ($399) or Bel 300 Pro ($299)???

*Wrong Pricing on Subject Header, sorry. Magnum $399 and 300 Pro for $299

Looking for some advice regarding my next RD purchase. Previous V1 owner but looking to make the switch to Beltronics. I'm a courier/messenger in the Los Angeles area so I do a lot of driving (between 100-150 miles per day) both in the city and on the freeways.

I've narrowed my choices down to the Beltronics 300 Pro and the Beltronics STi Magnum but I'm not sure which one I should purchase that would be best suited for my driving situation.

The STi Magnum would cost me about $100 more than the Bel 300 Pro - which is significant but would it be WORTH IT......or is the Bel 300 Pro the better "bang for the buck?"

I've read multiple reviews on BOTH detectors but I'm still unsure which one to get. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that "stealth" is of no importance to me being in California and a non-commercial driver. Just wanted to include that bit of info.

Dang, is this forum dead or what?

Anyhow, I ended up ordering the Bel 300 Pro for $269 (brand new, shipped) since the STi would probably be too chatty in the city, where I do a lot of driving.

    Thanks for the feedback, lol.

I'm a previous V1 owner (1.85 w/ ESP) and I wasn't pleased with the unit whatsoever. Terrible detection around corners and wouldn't shut up in the city (even with settings adjustments). I don't care for new "apps" or gimmicks. I just want an RD that works stand-alone right out of the box, hence why I had no interest in Escort Live as well.

Getting my Pro 300 today and from the rave reviews that I've read thus far, it looks like I'm going to be more pleased with it than the V1.

BTW, I don't care and never cared for the "arrows."

Pretty much. I approve of your choice. I have heard nothing but good about this unit unlike a lot of other detectors.

I am very happy with my 300, it does have better off axis than my X50 which does make it a little more sensitive to door openers (k band) however. The price you have to pay for more sensitive detection.

Seller on eBay selling new/factory-sealed STi Magnums for $395 (shipped). Includes 1-year warranty (exchange) through their own company. Positive feedback of 99.8% (over 8500 reviews).

$100 off retail. Not bad. Best price I've seen on the net.

That seller, if it is Gadget Town's auction you are referring to, is an Unauthorized Reseller so no warranty/guarantee. Is it worth the $100.00 saving in the long run? Sure, maybe at the time of purchase but if it takes a crap, you'll end up paying for the repairs, shipping etc. as Beltronics will not offer Warranty repairs on devices purchased from this eBay reseller: Beltronics Radar Detectors :: Performance Rules
