Welcome to the board. My best suggestion is to use AUTOSCAN for all driving. If they don't use X there, I can't remember you can shut it off or atleast turn it to low X like I use too. You may want to PM Outrun he lives there and can give you more insight.

A fellow North Texan! Welcome aboard. Both suggestions are right...Laser is used heavily in some of the northern jurisdictions. I haven't seen any X-band so I'm pretty sure it is safe to turn that bad boy off. There have been pretty solid reports of PoP in Plano. Be careful and drive safe!

Another poorly built radar detector will set your pop alert off. Its just a nuisance sometimes.

Yeah Laser is a big issue in Ft Worth and Arlington, Dallas is a mix, and anything morth of dallas is a mix but ALL juristictions east north of forth worth use laser you light want to look in to getting a laser jammer!!

unless you drive to plano, Richardson, Garland area you can keep pop off!!

OH yeah and the Buses in Ft. Worth is what is really going to drive you nuts!!
They have Kband drones and they absolutly get annoying!!!! Cause I can never drive through Ft. Worth and not see one you will always see one!!

RX65 not a bad choice, I wouldnt get one but its still a top 3 detector!!

    Welcome to the forum!!
