how hard is the install?

ok.... i have decided i want a Blinder to go with my X50 instead of the Zr3. The only thing is that i want SOME kind of rear protection, just in case. i dont think i should spend all this money on a jammer and get hit where it hurts and get a ticket. so i decided i need an M40 to cover the rear of my dodge neon. the thing is i cant spend the 750 that it is to get it with an installcard from roy (ZR3 plus install=500). i have a friend who is a great mechanic, and i want to know how hard it really is to get the system in and working. i know the jammers have to be level, but thats not the biggest problem i assume..... anything i should know before i ask him if hes up to the task?

Police hardly ever shoot laser at the rear of the cars so don't worry about rear protection

From looking at mine, if he can install a car stereo, or a car alarm, this ought to be pretty much a no-brainer. I'd say easier than doing a car stereo new install with four speakers, and a little more difficult than doing an alarm that only has a siren, and no light flash or door lock.

Your blinder should never be installed by yourself, so to answer your question the answer would be VERY EASY because you're not the one installing it :-) Only a professional should install a Blinder.

If you can't find a Blinder installer in your area simply ask the install shops if they have installed ZR3's.

good point case thats the only way you can take advantage of the no ticket guarantee if need be

i know it SHOULD be installed by a pro, but im pretty sure the only way that i can get an M40 would be to to get it myself without any install charge for 600.

The main reason that Blinder (Escort and Bel) recommend professional installers because of all the "clowns" that try to do it themselves and blow the damn thing up.

If you are going to install the unit yourself, read the instructions and take your time.

It should be better advertised that the "no-ticket warranty" is valid only if it is "professionally" installed. I thought I had read everything about the product before buying, but I was surprised by this when I opened the box.
I think I did a better job on my own vehicle than any professional would have done, yet I'm not covered. :|
