    Default M27 Head Placement Effectiveness?

Wondering if a placement in the lower grill (as seen in the silver car below) will be sufficient for an M27 install.

I realize an ideal install would be in the upper grill as seen in the black car, but the heads are far too visible IMO.

Yeah I know, stealth the car not the install, but it's just not an option for me. Also note that my car is black with a front plate.

EDIT: Here's a couple good pics of my headlights and front end, though realize my car is black rather than white.

Sounds like you're screwed then, because that isn't going to work.

    Why isn't it an option?

Jammers are illegal in CA and installing the heads in the grill is just too obvious IMO. They stick out like a sore thumb. See the pic of the black car.

Obvious to whom? A cop passing you, going the opposite direction at 60mph? Here's the deal:

If your jammer works, and you shut it off before he gets suspicious, he's not going to look for it.

If your jammer doesn't work, he's not going to be looking for it.

If your jammer works, and you don't shut it off before he gets suspicious, you deserve to get busted.

So where is this great risk? And if you're so concerned about risk, why are you speeding?

Even with the new M27 coming if you mount your sensors low instead of up in the grill with sensors out you are going to get eaten alive..The new sensors have great detection but even at that they are way to low to be able to cover all your headlight and all the chrome is going to kill you also.

I think he lives pretty close to me. If that's true, I can test his setup if he would like.

I have mine(M25 J16s) mounted pretty low near the plate and have got some lucky saves, but I do have an all black car with minimal chrome. In any event, if you can mount them higher near the headlights it would be optimal, you won't get pulled over in CA for it, I drove around in an S-10 w/ them mounted in the grill for over a year or so with no pull overs. First of all there are a ton of laser detectors that have heads that look just like blinders that don't jam. Second even if you do get a ticket, it's better then a speeding ticket b/c it's just an equipment violation with no points and costs less then a speeding ticket.

DJ, I'm in Redondo and work in Huntington. I'll let you know when I install it, need to receive it first. Thanks for the offer!

I definitely agree that I need to install it in the upper grill for maximum performance. In all honesty, I really didn't understand how Lidar worked until I watched a couple of Youtube videos. I thought the LEO would aim it at the plate and hold it there until obtaining a reading. Didn't realize they move it around the entire front end until they get a reading. I think the lower grill install would protect me from a front license plate shot, but I'd be screwed with a headlight shot. Problem is, my upper grill is attached to the hood, so it's a messy install. Not sure how/where to cut the grill and where to attach the brackets. A lower grill install would be much easier, though most likely less effective.
