Default How long does the M47 jam? Ok to leave on 24/7?

The software lets you pick 7 seconds, 10 seconds, or "constant jamming". If you pick constant, and you get painted, for how long after the LEO stops shooting does the M47 keep sending out a jamming signal? How long until it resets, if it even resets?

For now I have mine on constant just for testing purposes the next couple days. Normally I would keep it on 7 seconds but expect turn in off within 3-4 seconds of an encounter. Very annoying reading about how people JTG. Good way to bring unwanted attention to the industry.

I'm also wondering if it is better for the unit to leave it on 24/7, or to wire it up so it turns off when the ignition is off? Some electronics last longer if you leave them on 24/7. The 11 page manual is so sparse. Don't even know what the current draw is to know if it would drain your battery either.

If you set the duration to constant then it won't stop jamming until the sensor doesn't detect the lidar anymore. Just be careful when you're testing because the LEDs will get hot if your doing back to back runs without waiting for them to cool down.

I wouldn't run it 24/7. I can't definitively say which one is better, but I've never heard of someone leaving it on 24/7, I bet it does more harm than good (and its unnecessary drain on your battery).

I would leave it in constant jam mode. The timing starts when it first receives a signal. It does not take 7 seconds of continuous signal. So if you pick up a bitter of scatter for a 1/2 second or so your 7 seconds start. 7 seconds later you get hit by the real thing and boom no jammer protection!!!!!

Or you are jamming out and don't hear the alert, 7 seconds go by and boom, roadside disco!!

I read some more about this and I will definitely set it and leave it to constant. The buzzer is not that loud and I don't have a mute option on the stereo. That 60 second reset delay after the 1st hit may get you in trouble like you describe!

I'd flip it off as soon as I was at the PSL as no point to let LEO know what is in your car. Seems like the timer is to avoid newbies from doing JTG all the time and getting unwanted attention by the authorities...

PS - You have all those guns listed in your sig? If so, if my setup is bullet proof using a PLII, would that mean it will do well against all the other newer units. I have read in a few places that the PLII is one of the hardest guns to jam. Not sure not having tried any other guns.

if you get jtg with proII you will be fine, the state you live in find out what type of lidar guns they use in your state and you can test with that gun,or try and get a hold of one to test your setup with. good luck

Rob's right. Although, last get together I jtg'd the PL2 but somehow the PL3 kept getting sub 300 punch through on one of my lights... although there was some rain involved Speaking of which we definitely need to do a get together once spring/summer kicks in full gear! :-D

Ok, that's good to know about the PLII. I have a LEO friend that is a bit up in the food chain at his department who has previously offered to loan me a laser gun. I assume they have the latest guns used as the department is in an affluent city. Once my testing is complete and optimized using my PLII, I'll take him up on his offer and see how it does against another gun. So far only have the Ford finished. Will likely wait until I also have the Lexus done so I can test both cars at the same time and not have to borrow the PD's gun a 2nd time.

Cat4 and I learned in a testing session that 7 seconds is a lot shorter than you might think. It could easily pass in the real world before you get a chance to notice the alert, react and slow down... and by then you're owned, especially if you're trying not to make it too obvious you're not being owned.

When a cop is staring in the little view finder of a laser gun is it quite obvious to him if you slam on the brakes? I guess at night it would be because you would see the lights dip. Wondering if in the day they can really tell if you are taking evasive action?

Although here in CA I think 90% of the cars slam on their brakes on the highway when they see the CHP as most people don't drive near the PSL when we are out of a congested area.
