A friend of mine has an '03 or '04 Maxima (base model, six-speed) and absolutely loves it. It can get OK fuel economy for a car its size if you baby it, but also has one of the most beautiful V6 motors I have ever seen if performance is more your thing. Don't expect great handling, though. Reliability probably isn't quite as good as the Honda or Toyota but still very good.

Another friend of mine has an older Camry (I don't know, 2000?) and hates it because it's boring. It's not very fast, it doesn't handle well, it doesn't look great. However, it does very reasonable fuel economy (4-cylinder) for a mid-size sedan and is mechanically bombproof. He might have spent some money on a broken part but I don't think it was much.
The Passat...hell no. Yet another guy I know owns an '04 (I think) and hates it because it is a maintenance nightmare. His heated seat even melted due to some kind of short.

The Accord. Well, I'm biased . I love mine and I think that the 7th generations are even better if you can afford one. With a 4-cylinder, 5-speed you get reasonable performance and the best fuel economy out of the pack. (Unless, of course, you can find a Passat TDI which will destroy any of these gasoline-powered cars.) Should be incredibly reliable. Just DO NOT get a V-6 if you are going for a 6th gen because the auto trannys are crap. They break at 80,000mi and completely ruin an otherwise fantastic sedan.

My vote is Accord, 4-cyl MT. Sixth gen to save some money, 7th gen for the new styling and slightly better performance/gas milege from the K-series motor.

The Maxima is the only one of those that I would think of getting. It has style, unlike the Passat which has style but it's ugly and the Accord which has little style (with a touch of ugly).

The Maxima can be termed ugly too but I kinda like it. Very Renaultesque. Considering Nissan is owned by Renault...

Geez you complain about GM reliability try a Renault on for size
Having said that, Nissan has a very good reliability reputation.

Make sure you get the stick too.

Of course you could always get one of these with a 6-speed, and a turbocharged V6

here is the thing, my dad wants the passat- he is in the country 2 weeks out of the year so i will basically use it

i personally wanted the sport version of the 2007 camry

he said he will split the payments with me

i am keeping my current car because i will not get anything for it, i would rather keep it

    2.0T w/ automatic navigation
    48 month lease

with a 4 year lease and warranty, maintenance and reliability wont really matter

anyway, this car has so much chrome in front!

i want to put veil but dont want to ruin the looks

will probably hardwire the v1 to the passat and leave the 8500 in the lumina

if all works well i should have it by next friday

this is how it will look, have a couple of colors to choose from, i want something dark

I don't know if it's b/c I'm Filipino too, but I like the Passat. I am looking at a Jetta TDi myself, so maybe it's a Pinoy thing? My solution for the huge chrome on the bumper was http://carbras.com/40145_volkswagencarbra.asp.

probably because the accord, maxima and camry are cars we have in the philippines, the jetta/passat is "different" because it is not sold in manila?

i would like the bumper to look like the GTI's, they are black

i might get a bra, can you put aftermarket tint on a leased car?
