Many people... when the wing (spoiler) is going to be the same color as the car, many people bring it so a dealer or autoshop because they can order the paint (with sun-fade and all), and then paint it for you... and often to complete the job will offer a 'discount' on the actual installation... so that when the job comes out good you can say 'yeah got that installed at XXXXX, they did a great job'... via free press...

Also if they mess up, you can go wild and curse until you get everything for free and shop credit... if you mess up on your own, well its not as fun doing that to yourself.
    Speaking from Experience??????????
Nope... can't really put a wing or spoiler on my car, without doing a ton of work (Since they come with one... you would have to fix the sun-fade issue on mucho stuff).

With my experences and people taking their cars to the dealer for stuff like that they way, way over charge. A friend of mine took his Integra to the Acura dealership to get the shocks and springs changed after his brother had spent $2,500 to get lowering springs and shocks on it(nice springs and shocks too cant remember what brand but they were very spendy), to put stock shocks and springs on it, they charged him $1,500 for just the labor. Same friend same Integra, brakes pads and rotors 1k parts and labor, same friend got stuck in a puddle on the freeway sucked water into intake, total was over 3k. Same friend got a Subaru Impreza 2.5 took it in to get brakes pads and rotors again about 1k, then he had a strange noise coming from his rear tires, took it in the dealership found that his tires were out of balance, they balanced his tires and charged him $90, which didnt even fix the noise(it was the type of tires mixed with the AWD or something), right after this he was on his way to his cousins house in Illinois, they didnt tell him about re-tightning the wheels, almost had a wheel come off out in bum-fck Wisconsin. All of this work was done at the same dealership. I do understand your point about the whole paint thing, but any autobody shop can put a wing on and paint it to match.

On a good note when my moms Sentra broke down right before the warrenty was up, they gave us a top of the line Cadillac for almost 3 months, bottom of the line Nissan to the top of the line Cadillac.
