Id go with what the manual says, as long as the bike is still stock. Then again, I dont know anything about bikes, but that ^ holds true for cars.
If the manual says 87 then the bike will run just fine on 87, but with that said... bikes aren't like cars... many cars are designed to run optimally on 87, without knocking/early-det etc etc...
Bikes (tend to) like the higher octanes a bit more, but the engineers understand that not everywhere you go will have 93 octane fuel (such as remote areas or small towns), so they (as more of an afterthought), make the engines tolerable to 87 octane fuel, rather then optimized for it, but it certainly can and will run to specs on 87.
Most anyone I know uses 91 or 93, for the bikes these days that Redline ~15,000RPM, day in day out... most people simply prefer the 91 and 93 when it is available.

I sure hope 100% this isnt your first bike, I also hope you have followed the guidelines as far as break-in times and RPMS... (aka you should have a few thousand miles already on it). I also hope you can take corners before you start going that fast, because anyone can go that fast on a 600CC rocket these days, it takes little to no skill really.

Its not my first bike, and i did break it in in 600 miles in only 2 weeks ,ive been driving the hell out of it! and yes i can corner sharply and i always wear my helmet and gear,i only do this on a empty highway.
My roomie has a ZXR-6 Ninja 2005 and he puts in the highest octance he can fine. I know when I drive my Audi and I can feel the difference between 87 and 93-94 oct.
ok ..to all you bikers...im very paranoid to what i do with my bike,i have screwed up 2 time by accelerating at 1st gear then trying to switch to 2nd and accidentaly put it in neutral and rev the thing up to like 13rpm's ,will me doing this twice damage my engine? also how can i know if i put some damage?

Like AM put very well, down to 87, is ample to run a late model motorcycle on these days. The benefits of PULP are mostly performance and economy. On a bike, economy is not a big factor, but performance is. You have a 600, so they are rev hungry at the best of times, and it's your baby, right. I would fill it with the highest octane i can find and feel the difference......and it smells great too. It's up to you though, it's your money and your bike, you can't go wrong either way!

You have done it twice, don't worry too much. That's why they have rev limiters.
Most of the time it's not the rider, but the clutch it's self. Is the hand lever the right tension or angle? How is the foot gear lever feel to your left foot?
How ever, look at the service history, how long has the bike been with out an oil change or a good grease down the cable line?
These factors are obvious and real, try not to over look them.
New engines again, a near on bullet proof to a point, as long as they are serviced regularly and are at operating temperature.
If you don't know how a rev limiter works, it's the ignitions way of cutting the power out of to 2 spark plugs in the motor when the desired RPM'S's are reached at red line. Most disasters of over revving an engine are spinning bearings and stretching con rods. This is the extreme of what can go wrong and you'll rarely find a currant (5-6 year old) road bike with less then 20000 miles with this problem....in less it was a racer.
A tip though, if your missing way to many 2nd gears, try pre-loading the gear lever. When your about to change from 1st to 2nd, pull the clutch and lift the gear lever, keep your foot under it at pressure until the clutch is 100% out and gear engaged. I hope this helps :wink:
