Well, I'm a car-nut - and I'm kinda bored now that baby-Anna has a new nap schedule (consolidated her AM nap with her PM, so it's a long stretch of nothing to do).....

I've noticed that while some of the countermeasures enthusiasts here are not necessarily "car guys" (nothing wrong with that - I'm just stating an observation; for example, I love tactical flashlights and knives, but I'm not an LEO/Mil, nor am I a "mall ninja," I'm just a hobbyist) that at the same time, many of you are.

The "What car is your V1 in?" thread, for example, contains many cool rides, but I haven't seen a complete thread of such.

Would anyone here like to post pix and/or descriptions of their rides? Not a "contest" or anything - no one-upsmanship, please - and please, don't be negative about another man/woman's beloved ride, let's all give each other the courtesy and respect we all deserve, OK?

My wife's daily-driver is a "bone-stock" '05 Subaru Impreza WRX sedan, 4-speed automatic ( ), Crystal Grey Metallic with OEM rear wing and aero package, and an aftermarket Webasto moon-roof. No mods, not even countermeasures, actually. Well, I guess it does have some really fancy wiper blades (PIAA SuperSilicone) and a pricy baby-seat (Britax Marathon) - and a set of pretty pedal-covers (generic "STi" off eBay), so I'll list it here nonetheless. ops:

No offence, but i haven't seen a good done-up car or bike yet. Most look like over done cop magnets. I tend to leave most of my toys stock, except the important stuff like high performance brake lines, pads and may be a quality slip-on exhaust for good measure. That way you blend in and keep a low profile 8)

No offence, but i haven't seen a good done-up car or bike yet. Most look like over done cop magnets. I tend to leave most of my toys stock, except the important stuff like high performance brake lines, pads and may be a quality slip-on exhaust for good measure. That way you blend in and keep a low profile 8)

^ No offense taken at all as a "car guy," I can very easily examine this in an unbiased manner - and indeed, that's the very concern that I have, myself. ops:

My Legacy very much fit the role of a "standard family sedan," and it's truly much, much easier to speed with it - if that's one's goals - than with, say, my rather "2Fast2Furious" looking DSM.

I don't know how many enforcers I've simply blown-by, while the exterior of my Legacy was still stock, without even having been given a second look. Even now, with the "louder" exhaust canisters (both visually as well as aurally, although with the latter concern, my exhaust system has the distinction of actually getting quieter as the revs build, returning to about-stock levels of noise control, especially from in-cabin, once above 3.5K RPM), I still routinely get overlooked.

The DSM, though - that was an enforcement magnet.

Upon retrospect, I should have purchased the wagon variant of my Legacy, which would have truly been a Q-Ship. 8)

I think what you meant to say, brother, is not necessarily to just keep things stock, but to actually choose, as I mentioned above, true "Q-ships."

For example, my wife's WRX is essentially totally stock, and yet, it attracts noticeably more enforcement attention than my Legacy.

But I digress.

As I stated in the opening of this thread, I didn't want this to turn into an one-upsmanship kind of thread - I know that many of these modifications, be they aesthetic only or performance-related (a more open exhaust, for example, also has "aural problems" associated with it) can indeed make our rides actually LESS suitable for speeding, not more.

Pnstead, merely as a car-guy, I just wanted to see some of the undoubtedly very, very cool toys and even everyday transportation that some of you have (and again, I do not look-down at all on those of you who simply are not that interested in cars, but instead, pursue countermeasures as a hobby).

I'm not a big picture guy - I barely have a sufficient amount of pictures of my baby-girl, mostly to let other parents know that I'm "normal" and do indeed love her with all my heart and above all else.

I had a bunch of pictures up on the national BL/BP-chassis Subaru Legacy Forum, but I deleted them when the Forum software was having problems and causing my "vBGarage" editing to come out formatted all wrong.

I have a 1976 Firebird Esprit with the 400 V8 (6,55 litre) and 4-speed Borg-Warner Super T-10. Car currently has 80 726 miles. How do I know it so precisely? Because I haven't driven it in a few years Needs a total body restoration which I intend to give it one of these... years.

Just out of curiosity how heavy were those chrome rims?

The "summer" rims on my Legacy now are about 21 lbs., each (without tire). Measuring 18x8, they're significantly larger than my stock 17-inchers, which are about the same weight. While there are definitely much lighter 18s available, I wanted to go with something that's known to be strong and beefy, as my roads up here aren't great - so the Prodrives, despite their weight, were my top choice.

And hey, your Volvo ain't nothing to laugh at, either! 8) Put up her mod-list, too!

But see, that's unfortunatley outside of my knowledge-base.... ops: I'm not a big classic Detroit-muscle guy - however, my good buddy, an avid musclecar man, has given me enough lessons in the breed now that I can definitely appreciate them, and even drool over them when the right example comes along. :P

He's restored many cars from the ground up, and I'm sure the two of you could probably talk to the early hours of the morning about your projects!

And I keep meaning to ask you - have you done anything to your daily-driver, outside of countermeasures?

My daily driver is a Saab 900 Turbo Combi Coupé, '90. I've added my own personal blends of adjustments to the APC-system for spicer performance. Otherwise it's all "keep it on the road" work (eg new shocks, new floor, etc). I have a whole "Aerokit" from my 900 SPG I plan to put on the car in the spring and maybe the slightly (1 cm) shorter SPG springs. Ah yes and put my nice "ass-metric bologna slicer" late model 900 T rims on it.

Yes, it's a very fine line between too much (track style) and not enough (soft rubber hose lines, hard tires, sponge like OEM shocks and alike). Where is enough is enough, besides never having too much hp :wink: Agree there is some improvement to be made to most anything OEM. But, in less it's for making it better, over making it look pretty, it's a waste of money that you will never retrieve. I'm too old to be noticed now 8)
