    Default next mods

OK now that the headers are on and running (except for that loose bolt, but that'll be fixed in a short time)

now I was thinking about either suspension or ignition............ the ignition system won since ive already basically started on it with my new MSD wire set

anyways im a total retard when it comes to this stuff so heres my plan and a few questions to go with it:

1st ill pick up an MSD Honda/Acura Distributer cap that supports their external coil......... now the question is this: can I use their external coil without their ignition amplifier???? and do I need only 1 coil piece or would I need 4, 1 for each of my cylinders?? and how would I go about installing this stuff, it sounds easy enough, but im not sure

or should I just stick to suspension and get myself some new Sway bars and tower bars (the factory front bar just wont do if ive got a new stiffer rear bar and all the other hardware on the underside)

^ That's beyond me. ops: Sorry. ops:

I'd actually be tempted, funds available, to first re-do your stock suspension - change out the struts/springs, either with a coil-over setup or with a matched aftermarket strut/spring setup (not "matched" in terms of brand, but rather, in terms of performance).

Your older vehicle could benefit greatly from this make-over, and it'll be much better than the Band-Aid of sways (which a lot of AutoX'ers and circuit racers view more as a "fine tuning" device) or tower braces (which typically have minimal impact, when compared to other components).

Also, getting away from a bit of unsprung weight may do wonders for your everyday feel, too. Good tires, along with some lighter (but stronger) rims can help a lot.

Why do you think you need to upgrade the ignition system? That is not going to yield you any HP/torque and in general is not necessary on a "stock(ish)" car - in a lot of cases, an aftermarket ignition system will hurt performance (especially if you don't know what you are doing.)

When modding a car, you pretty much always start with I/H/E. I take it you've already got an aftermarket intake. Now that you've got headers, get some exhaust. Go with a cat-back system (no fart cans please.)

It's an Ex? V-6 or I4? Auto, manual?

Again, join a forum. Nobody on this forum is going to be as familiar with this car as people on a Honda forum.

EX 4 cyl "Accord" (Its an Acura CL but underneath the engine bay its just an Accord in disguise) Automatic, I/H/E is all done just got the headers in, its a custom catback and an AEM intake......... ignition helps stabilize things in the high revolution ranges where the stock ignition components have some trouble keeping up

and as for the other ideas, yeah, suspension might just do it, got the high grip tires on factory alloys though..... im looking at a voltage stabilizer at this time.... butim also looking into geting a HUD for myself........ all very tempting

and again.. Honda forums are filled with g*y ricer fags that only care about showin off their s**t ....... besides theseare just preliminary decisions......... when it gets down to the nitty-gritty details then I will go to my mechanic buddies

^ Apparently, Arashi666 is coming up short on this one - there's lots of good Forums out there for many of the hard-core performance vehicles, but the Honda ones tend to be harder to navigate as the noise-to-signal ratio is pretty bad....

^ What's the carcass weight on the tire? What's the weight of the stock alloys?

You might be looking at significant savings by going with an aftermarket rim - the carcass weight I tend to not pay too much attention to (although physically, a lot of improvement can be had there, too, if you're willing to go that far), but instead focus on the tire's other performance factors.

See if your car actually "needs" this, first.

It's a very hyped mod, but unless you have access to a dyno and the time to test different grounding points, it's pretty much a crap-shoot.

The only thing is if you're noticing voltage fluctuations - then, a "grounding kit" can help - but before you do that, make sure that your vehicle's grounding points are all clear and clean (and all still there, especially on older vehicles), as many times, just "restoring" them will do the trick, and is a better solution than the Band-Aid of a "grounding kit."

Also, before you jump off on this mod, be sure that the other critical electrical components of your vehicle are up-to-par, particularly if they're still factory. Again, just putting a Band-Aid over something is not the best route to go.

^ That's usually nothing more than a pretty "dress up" box.

Try surfing around some hobbyist pages and get some plans on making your own "grounding kit" with speaker-wire. Save a few bucks, and you'll get the same "performance."

But if you do want the box for some "prettiness" under the hood, I can't fault you for that, either. The only thing is that with fewer grounding points, that system may actually not help nearly as much as one with more contact points.

Honestly, look at this particular mod as a "dress-up" mod only.

yeah, I guess its the suspension.............. now the question is, springs or coil-overs......... i see a nice set of NEUSPEED springs that only drop .75 inches, thats good enough for me, I dont want any of that 2" drop stuff, that just scares me

Well I know nothing about the ignition side of things but improving the suspension would definitely reap benefits that you'd be able to feel in your driving.

I'd be cautious about just slamming some springs in there because like TSi+WRX says they have to be balanced with the dampers otherwise you can get that pogoing that you may have noticed some of the ricers cars have. The spring simply overwhelms the dampers ability to control it and the car bounces along after every hit. Looks FCKNG retarded but these ace racers apparently don't even notice it

Whaddabout brakes? Uncool I suppose but you can go faster if you can stop quicker

honda-tech.com is good site for technical stuff. There really isn't a need to upgrade the ignition unless your planning to boost. Go with the suspension mods or save $$$ for a swap.
