    Default Power Window troubleshooting

Anyone know anything about power windows?

My problem is the passenger side on a 2 door civic does not want to work, it blips slightly up and down like a 1/4 of an inch by itself if I take the window lock off the master switch. The passenger side switch and drivers door switch will do nothing.

    x2.

If I auto-roll up the passenger side window on my car it will go all the way up, stop, and then roll 1/4 the way down. Even if its closed and I pull the window button all the way up the window will roll 1/4 the way down.

Actually, I'm going to make a video of this for fun . It's kind of funny when other people are in the car and try to put their window up haha.

You might have a bad regulator, since the switch is still working, and motor seems to be working.

It may be a safety so not close fingers in the window. Try cleaning the track around the window. It may be internal as well. .

I don't know much about that type of thing . I'm not going to pay to fix it or have it fixed.

How do you keep it up?

The regulator is the mechanism that is scissor like and hold the glass, typically it can have platic gears and cable, the gears might be stripped.

It stays up if I don't make it automatically go up which you can see me do a couple times by just lifting the switch not all the way up.

My Acura TL did the same thing once or twice and never did it again.

The fact that it makes motion when you activate another switch kinda suggests short? Or it could be that the internals on one of the window switches is holding in the "UP" or "DOWN" position which over-rides the other switch and the drop in voltage activating a third switch (since all Power Windows are on the same circuit) is allowing a break in which the circuit is clear and not being over-ridden? That's just a lame-man's interpretation of a possible electrical problem, though. Since you're getting the change in behavior on the window lock button, I'd try replacing that panel (driver's side?) first. Should be a $10 pickup at a junk yard. Civic's are abound!

I am on the same track as you, the master switch (drivers side) overrides the passenger side, so if the master is bad then the passenger will not work either. A new master switch is $152 by the way.

Just interesting that the drivers window works from the master, not the passenger, I guess half the switch can go bad?

Right now I am talking to a source to get me a switch I can try real quick and if it does not work they will send it back for me.
